Imbolc, also called the festival of light of the witches, is approximately on 31 January to 1 or 2 February.
This is the festival in honour of Brighid, the triple goddess who is also responsible for fertility.
Before, during or after your Imbolc ritual you can light candles to cleanse and dispel the darkness, and burn incense.
We prepare for the coming spring, await the awakening of nature and celebrate the return of the light, the rising sun.
In order to better convert people to the Christian faith at that time, the Church has unceremoniously renamed this feast as the Candlemas of Mary.
