Lughnasad
Lammas, Reaper Festival
Lugnasadh, Reaper Festival or Lammas is around 31 July. This is the time of maturity, harvest and abundance, because now the grain is cut.
The god of harvest sacrifices himself to the earth so that new grain can grow again. The Celts celebrated the harvest festival in honour of the sun god Lugh, who is comparable to the Germanic god Wodan /Odin or the Greek Hermes.
