Because of the birch's strong protective and cleansing properties, the witch's broom is also usually made from birch rods.

Our Germanic and Nordic ancestors often associated the birch with the goddesses Frigg and Freyja, who were also associated with fertility, marriage and love.

The May tree is also made of a birch unk, and is still erected in many areas in the middle of the village square and decorated with colourful ribbons, for example. In earlier times, this was a custtrom that was usually cultivated on Beltane / Walpurgis to honour the goddess of spring.
