The caduceus is a winged staff on which two entwined snakes grow, in contrast to the Aesculapian staff, a simple staff on which only one snake grows.

The caduceus has always been a symbol of the healers and the god Hermes. It is often used as a support for healing spells and magic and is worn as an amulet, which also serves this purpose.
